Outsidedaily.com is a nonprofit, noncommercial blog on life spent outside.
At times we're not biking, hiking, trekking, paddling, wandering, surfing or just taking it easy outdoors, we're blogging about it. We post photos, videos, maps, even GPS-tracks of our daily adventures and try to do this in as many languages as possible.
We'd love to feature every serious contribution to our blog, so feel free to contact us. And yes, we link your posts to your own blog, too.
About the Authors
Mikkael
A young person (especially in the 1990s) of a subculture characterized by apathy and aimlessness, stereotypically adapted by male surfers, skaters, bikers but now accepted by any race, sex, religion, and wealth.
Moreover, Mikkael, the founder of Outsidedaily.com, is a 38-year-old, half a finn, half a turk, who lives, works and plays in Erkrath, Germany.
Work & Travels: Being a second-generation travel agent, Mikkael has been working in the travel industry for 20 years now. He started working for travel companies in 1988 in Vienna, Austria, and then worked and travelled through Germany, France, Spain, Turkey, Finnland, Sweden, Morocco, Thailand and found my way through Europe back to Munich, Germany.
From Norway to Utah, from the Canary Islands to Thailand, he has been to almost 80 countries around the world and still travels eagerly as if it were his very first trip. Mikkael is fluent in 4+ languages, which helps him a lot when he's on the move.
He co-founded the german tour operator DEMED in 1996 and the online travel company argonaut.de in 1999.
Sports: Mikkael played basketball for the turkish club Fenerbahce for 13 years, and was selected once to turkish youth national team. As a long-time avid skier, scuba diver, casual jogger, a regular soccerplayer and mountain biker, sports have been playing a very important role in his life all along. And he's a die-hard sports fan of all kinds of sports, too, especially soccer, basketball, cycling, wintersports and some extreme sports.
Averaging around 5000+ kilometers on the mountain bike each year, Mikkael attended numerous bike races and marathons in recent years and a 24-hour-mountain-bike race in Duisburg which he co-finished 55th in a quartet back in 2007.
Arts, Music, Hobbies: Mikkael admires all kinds of arts, music, photography and visual arts, has been a hobby drummer himself in a small rock band back in his wilder years. He loves collecting affordable paintings and hence support artists, wherever and whenever he can. He loves contemporary films, literature, reading fiction and [adventure and travel] magazines.
Mac Geek: Mikkael has been a pure-blood Mac user since 1984 [100% Microsoft-free] and never looked back since then.
Family, Wife & Kids: He lives with my long-time companion, 3 grown-up kids (12, 13 and 16), dog, cat in Erkrath and try to make the best of life!
